Finding the Right Lawyer
Most people don't think
about lawyers the same way they do about a family doctor or dentist or
even a regular accountant. Al l too often, they may never think about
when and why they may need an attorney until a situation arises where
the services of a lawyer are necessary. The truth is that attorneys
fulfill a number of different roles for their clients. At times,
unanticipated events may mean that an attorney is needed to protect or
enforce an individual's rights, for example, when they or a family
member have been arrested or when a dispute arises over a contract,
employment, marital relations, child custody, property ownership/use or
when someone has suffered a personal injury as a result of negligence.
At other times, an attorney may be needed to assist with planned events,
such as, purchasing or selling real estate, preparing wills or living
wills and assisting with estate planning. Depending upon the complexity
of the situation involved, a lawyer with special experience in a
particular practice area may be needed. In any of these cases, having a
personal attorney whom you can trust, who will give you sound advice and
always put your interests first is critical, because often the most
important role that an attorney can play is that of a confidential and
trusted counselor.
